Shoes This High - EP 1981

I know this is not technically a 45 as it plays at 33 1/3 RPM. But it's vinyl and 7 inches and as far as I am aware it has never been reissued on CD. This EP was the only release from Wellington Post Punk band Shoes This High. It was self-released on STH Records in 1981. After the band broke up later in that same year singer Brent Hayward became Smelly Feet, then Kiwi Animal. Jessica Walker and Chris Plummer formed Fishschool.

Semi Lemon Kola - 12 Shades of Blue
1999

It is fitting that Auckland band Semi Lemon Kola started in 1990 and broke up in 1999, they were a band of the 1990's. They released two albums, 2 EPs and 4 singles. This was their final single. There was no label on the pressing. The B-Side is a cover of the T-Rex song Telegram Sam.

Deryck Hunt
Drums
Robert Young
Bass
Gareth Price

Tosh Graham
Vocals

These tracks were recorded off of a record that was etched not pressed. One of the King Worldwide Records lathe cut records made in Geraldine during the 1990s. The grooves were etched on to a polycarbonate disk rather than pressed into vinyl. So the quality is not the best.

Right Left & Centre - Don't Go / Silent Majority - Let Them Go 1985

These two singles are linked by the fact one is an anti-tour song, the other is a pro-tour song. The tour in question was the proposed 1985 tour of South Africa by the All Blacks. After the infamous 1981 tour by the Springboks the New Zealand Rugby Union was invited to tour South Africa. The tour was cancelled due to a legal ruling. Which lead to the unsanctioned controversial New Zealand Cavaliers tour. The Cecil (Ces) Blazey mentioned in Let Them Go and You've Got To Move, Move Cecil was the Chairman of the NZRU at the time.

The anti-tour song, Don't Go. There was video featuring Don McGlashen, Chris Knox and Rick Bryant, all who contributed to the recording. No names were attached to the 1985 Silent Majority single. The anti-apartheid movement was an acceptable cause for a musician in the 80s but being pro-tour was not. Let Them Go sounds like it was written and recorded in a rush. The B-side, the Protester's Victory, is credited to The Protesters and is 2 minutes 30 seconds of silence.
