This is the first single from Manawatu vocal group The Q-Tees. They are backed by The Jazzmen. Released on Viking Records in 1957. It is one of the earliest "Rock and Roll" records released by a New Zealand artist. It came out in the same year as Johnny Cooper's Pie Cart Rock And Roll. As was usual for the time both sides are covers. The Q-Tees released three more singles and four EPs.

Four of the Tawharu are my cuzzies: Basil Colin, Nepia Aroma, Rangi Mita, and Terry (Terrence) Hori, all brothers; i think that Jacko (Kaimataia) could be their uncle, and Smoky could possibly be sister Tui Marama’s hubby John Hugh McGrath.
