Double B side single with Ainsworths' Coin on one side and Regulators' Neat Boy on the other. Both bands hailed from the North Shore of Auckland. Released in 1980 on Olympic. On the copy I have the labels are mixed up, the side that says Regulators plays the Ainsworths and vice versa. From the Regulators Andrew Bock went on to form Oi Punk band No Tag,
Geoff Hayden formed The Dabs with Rowan
Sheddon of the Ainsworths before joining the Mockers. Adam
Holt of the Ainsworths joined Sons In Jeopardy before becoming the Head of Universal Music NZ.

After discovering your wonderful little blog, I contacted my friend Geoff Hayden (bassist of The Regulators, later The Dabs, and The Mockers). Here are Geoff's thoughts to help fill the gap in The Regulators' biography (as, for some reason, Geoff's direct comment keeps getting rejected): -
ReplyDelete"I first met Andrew Boak in the North Shore district of Auckland around 1980. Both of us had a love of Punk and so formed The Regulators.
Steve Thorpe was briefly on drums but left after a drunken fight with myself and left for, ahem, "pastures new" - basically he joined a soft rock outfit called Small Torque!
He was replaced by the more-than-capable Richard Foulkes... and away we went.
I remember we entered the 1981(?) Rock Quest at the legendary Windsor Castle pub. We didn’t win but I was arrested and spent the night in the drunk tank at Mt Eden Prison. Our slot was midday-ish and I was still there drinking at 10pm... so drunk, so underage !
Well, The Regulators flame burned briefly. Andrew went on to form the glorious No Tag and Rowan Sheddon (Ainsworths) and I poached back Steve to form The Dabs...".
