Noel McKay was one New Zealand's first Drag Queens. He made a career singing "blue songs" (songs with adult lyrics). Originally from Oamaru he became a female impersonator in the early 1950's. By the 1960's he was a fixture in Auckland's cabaret scene as well as Sydney's King's Cross.
