This is the only release from Auckland 'Underground' band The Brew. They were formed by expat American Bob Gillert with the idea to blend and experiment with different musical styles. The singer on Bengal Tiger was Ray Woolf before his career as a middle of the road entertainer. He agreed to sing on the single but thought the rest of their set was full of "some pretty weird stuff". The B-Side was recorded for the New Zealand Tea Council. Who were promoting tea drinking among New Zealand's teenagers at the time. A more detailed history of the band can be found at Bruce Sargent's web site.
